Syesha Mercado confirmed her two-week-old daughter is back home, after temporarily losing custody rights last week.
The American Idol finalist and her partner Tyron Deeneer announced Friday (August 20) that they’d been reunited with their baby girl, Ast, in an Instagram video. “Ast is back with us,” the couple said.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart and my family for being there for us unconditionally,” Deener told supporters in the video.
The parents noted they are still working to regain custody of their 18-month-old son, Amen’Ra who was taken by the Florida Department of Children and Families on March 11, People reported.
“We still got work to do to get Ra back, but we just wanted to say thank you because of y’all … we had the proper support to get the best attorneys in the country to be able to bring justice,” Deener said.
Mercado said child protective services had “legally kidnapped” her son after she had taken the child to the hospital for fluids while making the transition from breastfeeding to the bottle while she was pregnant.
“On March 11th, our sun Amen’Ra was forcefully and legally kidnapped from us by CPS, who claimed we refused a B12 shot that was a matter of life and death, which is an absolute lie,” she alleged on a GoFundMe page set up for the family. “We never refused a B12 shot, and at no point was he on the verge of death.”
Last week, the singer shared harrowing video of child protective service agents taking her child away.
