Sabrina Carpenter and Christina Aguilera are stepping out as the duo we always knew we needed and now cannot live without after teasing a possible collab on Wednesday (September 19), that has fans on the edge of the seats.
Aguilera ignited hope for an alleged collab in a recent Instagram post where Carpenter refers to the "Genie In a Bottle" icon as her "mother" in a trending sound that originated from Kylie Jenner describing her relationship with momager Kris Jenner during an episode of The Kardashians.
"I'm obsessed with my mom. I am her favorite. We actually have a relationship like she has no other kids," the "Taste" hitmaker lip-synched as Aguilera embraced her, blowing a kiss to the camera.
According to Page Six, fans believe that the video alludes to an upcoming collab between the duo, possibly for Aguilera's 25th anniversary celebration of her self-titled, debut album.
The 42-year-old star recently sat down with Rolling Stone to discuss the impressive milestone, revealing that she wants any anniversary projects she releases to blend the past and present.
"I wanted to celebrate the 25th anniversary of my debut album in a way that brings together the past and present. I've always enjoyed reimagining my songs with different styles and audiences, as well as playing with sounds and arrangements that showcase how all music can be timeless."
As for Carpenter, she's been a fan of Aguilera's for as long as she can remember, telling Paper Magazine that's she's always viewed the standout as an "idol".
"I was 11 years old and you couldn’t get her name out of my mouth. She’s very special to me. Those songs raised me."
The blonde bombshells have yet to reveal exactly what they are working on together as the world patiently awaits the first-ever Sabrina-Christina collab.
