BioNTech Reports Potential Multiple Sclerosis Cure Breakthrough!

Our very own Jill was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2008 and manages to have a smile on her face and be the positive light in our lives everyday. MS is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system. Ever since Jill was diagnosed with MS, she has seen and heard about all types of research being done and different medications or therapies to slow down the progression of the disease or help patients manage it. While she's always heard things about them getting close to cure, now for the first time since she's been diagnosed there's been a breakthrough in actually stopping and curing the disease.

BioNTech reports in the journal Science that a new vaccine has proved effective in treating or stopping multiple sclerosis in lab mice. The company said it successfully encoded MS-specific autoantigens so when it was delivered in the experimental vaccine, it stopped MS symptoms in mice bred with a condition mirroring MS in humans. It even prevented further deterioration in mice with early signs of MS.
