April is upon us, and with every new month comes new challenges and opportunities.

According to astrologer Valerie Mesa (via People) a handful of Zodiac signs will experience "last-minute surprises" this month, along with creative bursts, personal growth, and transformative shifts in energy.

Aries (March 20-April 19) can expect April to be a "highly rewarding" month amid a series of emotional breakthroughs and an enlightened sense of self and security.

Taurus (April 19-May 20) should brace for prolonged reflection and improved communication this month, as new revelations and perceptions come to light.

According to Mesa, Gemini (May 20-June 20) should "keep an open mind" throughout April, and lean into instinct.

Cancer (June 20-July 22) is encouraged to take the lead this month as it is important for this star sign to prioritize independence and dispel exterior expectations.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 22), if there is any month to "venture into unknown territory" and "explore your options" it's April! Mesa suggests assessing your long-term goals and being open to opportunity this month.

Virgo (Aug. 22-Sept. 22) should focus on two things this month: investments and relationships. This star sign can expect their connections to be challenged amid an increased desire to "make a significant change in your life."

Libra (Sept. 22-Oct. 22) will evolve this month, according to Mesa. April is all about taking action and stepping into a "brand-new version of yourself."

This month will be very surprising for Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21). Tension between passion and stability could "bring unexpected breakthroughs" both romantically and creatively and energy will increase throughout the month.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22–Dec. 21) will develop into their most authentic selves this month. Discovering a healthy work-life balance and acting on intuition will be extremely beneficial in April.

For Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) April will be "personal," says Mesa. A shift in connection will occur allowing Capricorn to "experience a revelation about the trajectory of your career" and make bold moves.

Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) should pay attention to their values and comfort level this month. Clarity and tension will battle as April proceeds. Take time to "set intentions for your emotional foundation" to bring greater clarity and security.

For Pisces (Feb. 18-March 20) April is a time to "break free from old mental patterns and limiting beliefs you’ve been holding onto." Mesa explained that now is the time to "dive" into hobbies you've been putting off for a while.
